Araria

Araria district is one of the thirty-eight districts of Bihar state, India. Araria district is a part of Purnia division. The district occupies an area of 2,830 km2 (1,090 sq mi). Araria town is the administrative headquarters of this district. The Nepali border is about 8 km from Forbesganj headquarters.

 

Araria district is a part of the Mithila region. Mithila first gained prominence after being settled by Indo-Aryan peoples who established the Mithila Kingdom (also called Kingdom of the Videhas).

 

It has six constituency namely Narpatganj, Raniganj, Forbesganj, Araria, Jokihat and Sikti

Anil Kumar Yadav of RJD is representing Narpatganj Vidhan Sabha constituency in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He won the 2015 election of the Bihar Assembly by scoring 90,250 votes. Whereas BJP’s Janardan Yadav came up as runner up with 64,299 votes. They had a margin of 15.16 % votes. That is 25,951 votes. Notably, Anil Kumar Yadav had been coming up as runner up in 2005 (October) and 2010 Bihar Assembly Election. However, he managed to win the 2015 election.

 

Narpatganj is situated in the Araria district and Lok Sabha Constituency. It has an electorate of 2,81,739 voters. Of them, 62.45 % had voted in the Bihar Assembly Election 2015. The next Bihar Assembly Election will take place in the month of October or November 2020.

Raniganj is one of the 243 constituencies of Bihar Legislative Assembly. This assembly constituency is in the Araria district of the state. It is reserved for the candidates coming from Scheduled Castes. Voters of Raniganj elected Achmit Rishidev of JDU in the Bihar Assembly election 2015. He secured 77,717 votes and beat BJP’s Ramji Das Rishidev by a margin of 14,930 votes.

 

Raniganj is home to 2,83,545 eligible voters. It comprises of 1,49,466 males, 1,34,063 females, and 16 third gender. Raniganj will undergo the process of voting as per the schedule of the Bihar Assembly Election 2020.

BJP’s Vidya Sagar Keshri got elected as MLA of Forbesganj in the 2015 election. He scored 85,929 votes. Whereas Krityanand Biswas of RJD settled with 60,691 votes and came up as a runner up. BJP has been winning this seat since the 2005 (February and October) Bihar Assembly Elections. The next Bihar Assembly Election will take place in October-November 2020.

Of them, 1,47,952 are males, 1,29,898 females, and 7 third gender. The polling percentage for Bihar Assembly Election 2015 was 63.25 % from Araria constituency.

 

In that election, Congress’s Avidur Rahman was elected by winning 92,667 votes. LJP’s Ajay Kumar Jha came as a runner up with 52,623 votes. They had a massive margin of 40,044 votes between them. Bihar Assembly Election 2020 is expected to commence in October or November 2020.

Jokihat, in the Araria district of Bihar, is one of the 243 legislative assembly constituencies of the state. The assembly constituency of Jokihat is home to a total of 2,57,611 eligible voters. Amongst all the voters of the constituency are 1,38,230 men and 1,19,371 women.

 

Voters of Jokihat elected Sarfaraz Alam of JDU as their MLA for the Bihar Assembly Election 2015. He secured 92,890 votes. Whereas Congress’s Ranjeet Yadav came up as runner up with 38,910 votes. The difference between them was of massive 53,980 votes. Sarfaraz Alam had earlier won the 2010 Bihar Assembly election. Hence, he won this seat for the second time in 2015. One of the 243 legislative assembly segments of Bihar is Sikti. The assembly constituency of Sikti is in Araria district of the state. Sikti comprises Chahatpur, Balua Kaliyaganj, Pipra Bijwar, Baradbatta, Kankhudia, Chouri, Dighli, Dehti South, Dehti North and Dharamganj gram panchayats of Palasi community development block, Kursakanta and Sikti CD blocks according to the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India 2008.

 

A total of 2,42,620 eligible electors are there in the Sikti assembly constituency, amongst them are 1,27,492 male and 1,15,124 female voters.
