Kishanganj
Kishanganj district is the easternmost district of Bihar in India, and Kishanganj town is the administrative headquarters of this district. Kishanganj district is a part of Purnia division (Seemanchal). It is one of the most socio-economic backward and minority concentration districts of the India.
Kishanganj district, which was previously part of Purnia district, is part of the Mithila region. Mithila first gained prominence after being settled by Indo-Aryan peoples who established the Mithila Kingdom (also called Kingdom of the Videhas) which was ruled by the Videhas, an Indo-Aryan tribe.

In Kishanganj district of Bihar, Thakurganj is one of the 243 legislative assembly constituencies of the state. In 2008, after the implementation of the orders of the Delimitation Commission of India, Tulshia, Singhimari, Atgachhia, Lohagarha, Dahibhat, Satkauwa, Ikra, Dighalbank, Dhantola, Tarabari Padampur, Jagir Padampur, Karuamani and Mangra gram panchayats of Dighalbank community development block and Thakurganj CD block came under the jurisdiction of the Thakurganj legislative assembly segment.
The assembly constituency of Thakurganj is populated by 2,36,956 eligible voters, amongst whom 1,24,110 are men and 1,12,842 are women. Lok Jan Shakti (LJP) member Naushad Alam presently represents the Thakurganj constituency in the state assembly. Alam emerged victorious in the 2010 state assembly elections with 36,372 votes and defeated Gopal Kumar Agarwal of JD (U) who won 29,409 votes. Thakhurganj assembly segment lies in the Kishanganj Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of Bihar.

Kishanganj is a Lok Sabha (parliamentary) as well as one of the 243 legislative assembly constituencies of the state of Bihar. As per the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India, 2008, the Kishanganj assembly segment comprises Pothia community development block, Kishanganj municipality and Taisa, Motihara Toluka, Halamala and Singhia Kulamani gram panchayats of Kishanganj CD block. A total of 2,42,175 people are identified as eligible voters in the Kishanganj legislative assembly. Amongst them are 1,22,690 men and 1,19,476 women. Dr. Mohammad Jawaid of Indian National Congress (INC) is the sitting MLA from the constituency.
Jawaid emerged victorious in the 2010 assembly elections by winning 38,867 votes against 38,603 votes won by Sweety Singh of BJP. Kishanganj legislative assembly segment is in Kishanganj district of Bihar. Before 2008, there used to be two different assembly constituencies in Bihar by the name Kishanganj before the implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India.

Kochadhaman is in Kishanganj district of Bihar and is one of the 243 legislative assembly constituencies of the state. The Kochadhaman assembly constituency came into existence in 2008 and consists of Pichhla, Belwa, Daula, Gachhpara, Mehangaon and Chakla gram panchayats of Kishanganj community development block and Kochadhaman CD block, as per the orders of the Delimitation Commission of India, 2008.
The Kochadhaman assembly constituency accommodates 2,05,971 eligible voters. There are 1,08,914 male and 97,055 female voters in the constituency. RJD’s Akhtarul Iman represents Kochadhaman constituency in the Bihar legislative assembly, who grabbed the seat with 37,376 votes in 2010 assembly elections. He beat Mujahid Alam of JD (U) who managed 28,351 votes. Kochadhaman legislative assembly segment is a part of Kishanganj Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of Bihar.
