Madhubani

Madhubani district is one of the thirty-eight districts of Bihar, India, and is a part of Darbhanga division. Its administrative headquarters are located in Madhubani. The district has an area of 3,501 square kilometres (1,352 sq mi) and has a population of 4,487,379 (as of 2011). Madhubani is the largest fish-producing district of Bihar in 2022.

Harlakhi, in the Madhubani district of Bihar, is one of the 243 legislative assembly constituencies of the state. It has 2,58,296 registered voters. Of them, 1,35,504 are men; 1,22,784 women, and 8 third gender. During the 2015 Bihar assembly election, 56.23 % of these voters exercised their right to vote.

The people of Harlakhi Vidhan Sabha constituency elected Basant Kumar of BLSP as their leader in the 2015 election. Congress’s Mohammad Shabbir could manage to reach the second rank and became a runner up. The winner and runner up got 40,468 and 36,576 votes respectively. The margin between the two was 2.74 % votes.

Amongst them, 1,44,454 are males; 1,27,204 females; and 18 third gender. It is to be noted that only 49.66 % of voters voted in this constituency for the Bihar election 2015.

 

Congress’s Bhawana Jha gained victory in the Benipatti constituency. She scored 55,978 votes during the 2015 elections. Also, BJP’s Vinod Naraina Jha who was the MLA of Benipatti at the time of the election, came up as a runner up with 51,244 votes. They had a margin of only 3.55 % votes between them.

Babubarhi, in Bihar’s Madhubani district is the name of one the 243 legislative assembly constituencies of the state. After the implementation of the orders of the Delimitation Commission of India in 2008, Ladania and Babubarhi CD blocks, Chandargobraura South, Chandargobraura North, Kanhauli, Sukki, Inarwa, Bhakua and Chandardih gram panchayats of Khajauli community development block areas came under the Babubarhi assembly segment.

 

A total of 2,60,449 people are eligible to vote in Babubarhi assembly constituency. There are 1,37,039 men and 1,23,397 women who have the right to vote.
